Clear costs, no surprises, and help using your Medicare or private health cover
Let's be honest: nobody enjoys trying to work out what an appointment will actually cost them. So I've put everything in one place; my fees, what you can claim back, and how to get a Medicare referral from your GP.
All consultations are via telehealth (video, or phone if you prefer), Australia-wide.

Booking is simple, and everything is handled online.
- Deposit: a $50 deposit secures your initial appointment (initial consultation or Coeliac Intensive), due within 48 hours of your booking confirmation email.
- Remaining balance: the rest of your fee is due in full 24 hours before your appointment.
- How to pay: payments are made by debit or credit card and processed securely through Stripe. Payment links will be provided in your booking confirmation email.
- Cancellations: deposits are non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances, assessed individually.
Because your consultation is paid in full up front, any Medicare rebate is paid back into your bank account after your appointment, and private health claims are made directly with your fund.
If you have a chronic health condition, your GP may be able to put a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) in place. This previously was called a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, "EPC", or simply a "care plan". With a GPCCMP and a referral to a dietitian, you can claim a Medicare rebate on your consultations with me.
How it works:
- Rebate amount: the Medicare rebate is currently $63.40 per consultation (from 1 July 2026).
- Number of sessions: you can claim up to 5 rebated allied health sessions per calendar year. These are shared across all allied health providers, so you can use all 5 with me or split them with, for example, a physio or podiatrist.
- Telehealth: the rebate applies to video and phone appointments, so telehealth isn’t a barrier.
- Eligibility: there's no official list of eligible conditions. It's a conversation between you and your GP, and generally the condition needs to have lasted (or be likely to last) six months or more. Coeliac disease is lifelong and IBS is often long-term, so it's well worth asking.
What it might cost you (before any safety net):
- Initial consultation: $175 - $63.40 = approx. $111.60 out of pocket
- Review consultation: $105 - $63.40 = approx. $41.60 out of pocket
- Coeliac Intensive: $260 - $63.40 = approx. $196.60 out of pocket
If you've reached the Medicare Safety Net for the year, your rebate may be higher.
1. Book an appointment with your GP and ask whether a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan is appropriate for you. It helps to mention that you'd like to see a dietitian.
2. Ask your GP to refer you to me (Rhiannon Dick, GF Dietetics). They can send the referral securely via HealthLink (gfdietet) or directly by email to: rhiannon@gfdietetics.com.au
3. Book your consultation. Please make sure your referral has reached me before your first appointment, as Medicare rebates can't be backdated.
4. Claim your rebate. I'll process your Medicare claim the day of your appointment, so the rebate lands straight in your bank account.
If you have extras cover that includes dietetics, you may be able to claim part of your fee back through your health fund. I can send you an itemised receipt with my provider number and the item code. The amount you get back will depend on your fund and level of cover, so it's worth checking your health fund’s website or giving them a quick call first.
Remember: you can claim either Medicare or private health for a consultation, but not both for the same session.
No, unfortunately I cannot offer bulk billing. However if you have a valid GP Chronic Condition Management Plan and referral, you can receive a Medicare rebate of $63.40 per consultation, bringing your out-of-pocket cost down considerably. Private health extras cover can also help if you don't have a Medicare referral.
Yes! Medicare rebates apply to both video and phone consultations with a dietitian when you have a valid GP Chronic Condition Management Plan and referral.
There are no set list of eligible conditions, so your GP decides whether a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan is right for you, generally for conditions that have lasted, or are expected to last six months or more. Many people with coeliac disease or long-term IBS are eligible, so it's worth asking your GP.
Up to five allied health sessions per calendar year under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan. These are shared across all allied health professionals, which includes dietetics, so if you're also seeing a physio or podiatrist, those sessions count toward the same five.
No, you can only claim one option per consultation, not both at once.
Not at all! A referral is only needed if you want to claim a Medicare rebate. You're very welcome to book without a referral and simply pay the full fee (claiming through private health if you're covered).
Whether you're newly diagnosed with coeliac disease, still searching for answers to your gut symptoms, or somewhere in between, I'd love to help.
